About the IVIS Spectrum

The IVIS Spectrum is a non-invasive in vivo imaging technology that captures the full wavelength spectrum from high energy blue to low energy infrared of bioluminescent and fluorescent reporters. The IVIS is located inside of both the ARCF and SLU facilities, as well as a Living Image work space located in SLU 370.

Features and Benefits

  • High-sensitivity in vivo imaging of fluorescence and bioluminescence

  • High throughput (5 mice) with 23 cm field of view

  • High resolution (to 20 microns) with 3.9 cm field of view

  • Twenty eight high efficiency filters spanning 430 – 850 nm

  • Supports spectral unmixing applications

  • Ideal for distinguishing multiple bioluminescent and fluorescent reporters

  • Optical switch in the fluorescence illumination path allows reflection-mode or transmission-mode illumination

  • 3D diffuse tomographic reconstruction for both fluorescence and bioluminescence

  • Ability import and automatically co-register CT or MRI images yielding a functional and anatomical context for your scientific data.

Rates (Internal Users August 1 2022-Present):

Unassisted Use of the Optical Imager and initial training                             $169.00/hr

  • Required initial training. Covers system startup, use of the anesthesia machine, basic software features and data acquisition, and clean-up.

  • Users will be able to use the imaging system unassisted once they have completed the initial orientation.

Use of Image Analysis Software                                                                       $36.54/hr

  • There is a work station available for data analysis located in S370.

Assisted Use Labor Rate (add on to unassisted rate)                                     $91.35/hr

  • For users who do not want to be trained to use the system just yet (obtaining data for pilot study etc.). The center manager will operate the IVIS Spectrum and acquire data with feedback from the researchers.

Rates (External users):

Initial Orientation/Training                                                                                 $278.29/hr

Unassisted Use of the Optical Imager                                                             $269.00/hr

Use of Image Analysis Software                                                                       $86.54/hr

Assisted Use Labor Rate (add on to unassisted rate)                                     $141.35/hr
